About Marie Garaccio

As much as this reads like a cliché, I did actually grow up in a house constantly filled with music. Whether it was reggae, soul, disco or pop, my parents were always dancing and singing along and making sure us kids joined in.  So it makes sense that music is, and always has been, the centre of everything I do – from my work as a fitness instructor, to singing in a band, and spinning tunes with the Six Million Steps boys.

Djing wasn’t something that I ever dreamt of, I was always happy attending events and enjoying watching and hearing the DJs do their job.

This new journey started in September 2010 when I met David Cooper from Six Million Steps. We got talking and I mentioned an amazing outfit that I’d been listening to for years; they happened to be called Six Million Steps. You can imagine my joy and shock that I was speaking to one of my ‘secret heroes’.

With David’s guidance on which equipment to purchase and then how to use it once the set-up was complete, I was ready to go. I started as the warm-up DJ for my 6MS boys at their 6MS Live Sessions at the East Village club in Shoreditch. I have warmed up the decks for Jeff Young, DJ Red Greg, Sean P, and have proudly added Dave Lee, Paul Trouble Anderson, Melon Bomb and Terry Jones to my musical CV.

Music is everything to me, so to be able to showcase my musical spirit is an honour and a pleasure beyond words.
